In line with our mission of developing, open sourcing and scaling nature-based carbon removal solutions, our first project is linking regenerative aquaculture with regenerative agriculture to rebuild coastal ecosystems, improve soil health and increase crop resilience in Europe and abroad. By doing so, we are creating sustainable work for rural communities, protecting farmers and safeguarding food security in the face of a changing climate, all while permanently storing away significant quantities of carbon.

In short, we are harnessing the power of seaweed to regenerate oceans, soils and communities

  • • Farmers face unprecedented challenges, including degraded soils, droughts and heatwaves, which lead to significant crop losses.

    • Meanwhile, the way humanity eats contributes a third of all carbon emissions. Incoming regulations are demanding farmers to cut these emissions and to reduce the use of chemical fertilisers.

    • At the same time, there is increasing demand for organic products, which is also a huge economic opportunity.

  • • Seaweed is a valuable crop that grows quickly while sequestering incredible amounts of CO₂ and promoting biodiversity - without the use of fertile land, freshwater or synthetic fertilisers.

    • Working beautifully in tandem with other restorative species like oysters, seaweed filters water, reduces ocean acidification and alleviates eutrophication.

    • As the area under seaweed cultivation expands, so too does its capacity to regenerate marine coastal ecosystems.

Bringing it all together into a climate solution and helping farmers on both ends of the chain

Creating impact through real-world pilots, science and collaboration

  • Viability and Impact

By working with academic and industry partners to realise this solution and study it thoroughly, we will be able to prove it can be built, that everything works, and that it has the regenerative properties we believe it will. It is critical to build things in the real world and have them examined and validated by experts of all sorts, otherwise all we have is ideas and theories. You are helping us make everything real and test it thoroughly, ensuring a positive impact on Mother Nature, rural communities and the climate.

  • Open Source

As we build and study the solution, we will document all the procedures, designs, calculations, models, successes and failures - and we will make them all public to ensure everyone can learn from our experiences and use them to get their own regenerative practices up and running as fast as possible. When they contribute their knowledge back to the project, everyone else will benefit even more, creating an accelerated learning loop and exponentially growing impact.

  • Scaling Up

As we work on realising this solution, we are engaging with many partners and enabling them to add to the solution and to begin building up their own operations with this solution in mind, creating an ecosystem of players along the whole value chain that benefit from the existence of these methods, designs and products. Ocean farmers will be able to profitably cultivate seaweed, terrestrial farmers will be able to grow stronger crops, and we will permanently store CO₂ from the atmosphere.
